Saturn

My youngest son is currently obsessed with the planets, and I stumbled across a make for Saturn and its rings. I was looking for a nice make to try out the multi-material capability of my new 3D printer, where it can swap between four materials through the print, and this was the perfect opportunity. I used a few filament swaps to produce a stripey effect as the two hemispheres printed – I chose to only do whole layers in each colour – it could do partial layers, but the complexity wasn’t worth it, and each swap adds quite a bit of time to the print. Overall this took about two hours + 30 mins of prep in the slicer.
